In this video, you will learn about Azure NetApp files and how they can be used in conjunction with Citrix Dash and FS Logics Technologies. One of the main components required for Azure virtual desktop or Citrix Dash with the pooled video infrastructure is a profile. If users save anything, it will vanish after logging off, so profiles are used to save data to a network share. To have a better profile experience, it’s recommended to have a highly available share that can host profiles. Two common options for this are Azure Premium File and Azure NetApp Files.
Azure NetApp Files is a native Azure storage service that provides enterprise-grade NFS or SMB storage volumes for mission-critical applications. Additionally, it provides built-in availability, data protection, and disaster recovery capabilities. Azure NetApp Files supports SMB and NFS protocols and can be used for mission-critical applications such as database file sharing, home directory, VDI profile, etc.
There are three service levels supported by NetApp: Ultra, Premium, and Standard. The level you choose depends on your requirement for throughput. Ultra is the highest level that gives you 180 MiB per second for one TiB quota, while Premium provides 64 MiB per second. Standard provides 16 MiB per second per 1TiB quota. You have the flexibility to change the service levels at any time without any downtime.
To create an Azure NetApp File volume for your FS Logics profiles or any file share, you need to go to the Azure portal and select resource providers. Search for NetApp and register the service if needed. Then, go to the Azure NetApp File blade, create an Azure NetApp account, and provide a name for it. Select the subscription and resource group, choose the location based on your requirement, and click Create. It will take a while to create the NetApp account. After that, set up your active directory connections, and provide the DNS name, ad DNS domain name, site name, and SMB server prefix.
Overall, this is a brief about the Azure NetApp files and how to configure it.
