Have you ever wondered how to create a collaborative space for a group of people to store and work on files together? We will explore the process of teamifying a shared library in Microsoft 365.

To begin, we start in OneDrive, where we have our personal files. However, if we want to create a central location for a team to store their files, we can create a shared library. Instead of creating individual folders and sharing them separately, a shared library allows us to create a shared space and add members who automatically gain access to the files.

Creating a shared library involves giving it a name and adding members. Behind the scenes, Microsoft 365 group and SharePoint site are created to facilitate collaboration. You have the option to customise advanced settings, such as privacy settings for the library. Once everything is set, you can create the shared library.

After the creation, you will notice that you have a SharePoint site associated with the shared library. However, there is no Microsoft Teams integration at this point. To add the collaborative power of Teams, you can go to the bottom left-hand corner of the SharePoint site and connect it to a Microsoft Team.

By connecting the shared library to Microsoft Teams, you unlock real-time chat and collaboration features. You can also pin resources, such as pages, lists, and libraries, as tabs within Teams for easy access to shared resources.

Once the integration is complete, you can jump into Microsoft Teams and experience the seamless connection between the shared library and Teams. You will see a team icon indicating the association, and with a single click, you can access the team interface. The files tab in Teams is directly connected to the shared library, and if you pinned the home page, it will be available within Teams as well.

Teamifying a shared library brings together the benefits of both collaborative file storage and Microsoft Teams’ collaborative features. It allows you to streamline communication, enhance teamwork, and simplify access to shared resources.

In conclusion, teamifying a shared library in Microsoft 365 is a straightforward process that can greatly improve collaboration within your organisation.
